Cheap hotels in Sofia

The metropolitan area of the capital of Bulgaria, home to nearly 3 million people, produces 50% of the GDP of the entire country. Sofia is an important business center, very busy on weekdays with both national business men and women and people coming from Eastern countries alike.

If we add to this, the great number of tourists who’ve been visiting the city in the last twenty years, also thanks to the greater attention of public administration for the preservation and promotion of the architectural and cultural heritage of the city, we can understand why the centre of Sofia hosts over 250 hotels and other lodging solutions. Of these, at least a couple of hundred are cheap 1, 2 and 3-star hotels, which over the past decades have been fully restored, thus getting closer to the standards of hospitality provided at similar accommodations in Western Europe.

Along the boulevards that branch out from the centre, where the metro station Serdika is, and along the avenues to the south, as ulitsa Knyaz Boris I, ulitsa Tsar Asen and boulevard Vitosha, there are dozens of 3-star hotels at prices ranging between 45 and 60 Euros, which offer double rooms with breakfast, private bathroom, free Wi-Fi and modern furnishings suitable for business travelers.

The cheap 1 and 2 star hotels in Sofia are still a good choice: always neat and clean, they boast really low prices, ranging from 25 to 30 Euros for a double room. However, it is always better to ask at the reception if any government taxes are already included in the quoted price.
