The city of Genoa has always been very popular with business travelers. Over the past 15 years, however, thanks to the promotion made by the Public Administration, the city now attracts also leisure tourism. Genoa boasts magnificent ancient buildings and monuments, but especially new valuable attractions thanks to the construction of the Aquarium of Genoa built for the Colombiadi during the Expo '92.
The range of mid- to high-level hotels in the city is very wide, but there are also numerous guesthouses and low cost hotels, too. Most of the cheap hotels in Genoa are located in the area of Genova Piazza Principe Train Station and along Via Balbi.
